Congresswoman Melissa Hart's (PA-04) staff called police to evict members of the Alliance for Retired Americans and the Raging Grannies from her government office this week. They were there to deliver donuts to underscore her support for the Medicare Part D(isaster) plan and the donut hole many seniors find themselves in. This report is from Dannielle Pere of ARA:
Donuts were then delivered to Hart's staff while ARA members talked about the donut
hole. Hart's staff promptly called the police to try and remove us from
the office. The police arrived and begin asking ARA members to move on.
As Marie Malagreca turned to leave, she shouted to the staff and police
with a smile "I've been kicked out of better places!" The entire event
was caught on film be a camera crew from Channed 2 News, KDKA TV.
Reports were also given to the Associated Press and Pittsburgh Tribune
Review.
It's shameful that Hart's government paid staff would put police on peaceful protesters! This is an absolute disgrace. These senior citizens have legitimate grievances about this program. Remember, these were older Americans there to make a point and make it nonviolently. Melissa Hart called in the police to protect her from embarrassment and only compounded her litany of failures in so doing.
Jason Altmire is challenging the extremism of Melissa Hart for Congress.
