Curiously this is Bill speaking, not Hillary. We all know Hillary Clinton not only voted for the invasion of Iraq but steadfastly supported the Bush policies until she announced her presidential campaign. She still has not apologized for her mistakes. Bill, however, is seeking to mitigate some of that damage with this statement made in Iowa. I don't buy it.
Bill Clinton never publicly came out and said this war was a mistake and not ought to be waged. Never once, when it would have saved lives and trillions of dollars, did he speak up. He never spoke up as conditions in Iraq worsened and hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives. Not once. He never spoke up when Republicans used the resolution he signed, as President, calling for regime change, to say that an invasion wasn't what was warranted under that bill.
Now, as his wife is slipping in the polls and voters are beginning to pay attention, he says this. I'm not buying it. This is nothing more than political theater of the worst kind: pandering for votes on the backs of the dead.
