State Senator Connie Williams has announced she is retiring and will not stand for re-election next year. The popular Montgomery County Democrat was a good lawmaker and an advocate for women and women's issues in Harrisburg. She sponsored this year's legislation allowing women to breast feed in public for example. She was also a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party and used her family's wealth (Hess Oil) to finance campaign training events in Montgomery County for candidates, Party members and campaign staffs. Williams was a lawmaker I truly admired and she will be missed as an advocate for the people.
State Representative Daylin Leach announced he will run to succeed Williams and keep the seat Democratic.
