Some good news for a change: a major spammer has been arrested. It was bad enough when my email boxes were filled with spam but now I also have to deal with it here on the blogs. I had a spam comment left this morning and a spam trackback yesterday. These people know no bounds. One less spammer is abusing us however. Robert A. Soloway of Seattle commandeered people's computers and used them to distribute his junk email. The way some of these people our computers to use for their business is criminal.
Speaking of computers I had some trouble with mine yesterday. I was having all sorts of problems with the desktop-my mainstay for blogging and such. It kept running out of memory and crashing until I noticed the external 400 GB hard drive was off. The small 80 gigs in the desktop filled long ago and I attached a booster. If that's off there just isn't enough space left to run applications properly so it kept crashing. No idea how or why the Seagate turned itself off, probably a power outage. I like writing on the desktop because I have dual flat panel monitors. I can keep my research pages open on one monitor while I write on the other. It's a very good system and much more efficient. It also keeps the source material right in front of me which affords better factuality and fewer errors. When it goes down I feel frustrated sometimes only using a laptop with their awful touchpads.
This morning is time for a haircut and some shopping. I need to pick up some more dog food and the Beagle's meds. He's hanging in there and I think the medicine has helped greatly. The prognosis for his kind of cancer is six months and he's around nine since the onset of symptoms so I'm glad he's still here. Still, we're out of food and meds so I need to get out and get these things done. I have several articles lined up, one on the Employee Free Choice Act that I'm waiting on Sen. Specter's office to get back to me on. I spoke with them yesterday and they're determining whether the good Senator will co-sponsor the legislation. If so that'll be good news I'd include in the story. I also have some stuff on worker intimidation here in Pennsylvania which was sent to me from a blogger in Chicago. These are disturbing and illustrate the need for new legislation.
I'll catch everyone a bit later and, meanwhile, rest easier knowing one more spammer is out of business. Now for all those Nigerian scam letters....
