Chase Bank USA has filed suit against Republican Recorder of Deeds candidate John Fielding over an unpaid debt. The legal action, filed in Berks County Common Pleas Court October 10th, is over $5,040.15 plus interest. The docket number of the case is 07 11131. The case is before Judge Sprecher. I'm surprised he didn't simply use campaign funds to pay his credit card bill since he used them illegally for another personal expense.
Fielding claims he's better qualified for the office because he knows the law. You don't have to be a lawyer to know the law but it appears he'll now have the opportunity to represent himself.
It's always nice to know that the guy that can't even keep tabs on his own matters wants a job keeping tabs on other people's matters.

I picked up a copy of the lawsuit this afternoon. The balance due on a second card is just under $6,500 and they are also suing for another $1,000 penalty and interest.
Now we know why he had to use campaign funds to fix that van last spring: he couldn't put it on his credit card!
Candidates are NOT allowed to use campaign funds for personal expenses.
