Not to be mean about it, but your tolerating the poor service only encourages it. Find a manager at Canal Street and tell him your issues, how will he ever fix a problem he doesn't know exists? As for Margherita's, you should have told the owner that if that was his idea of customer service you will take your business elsewhere and walked out with your money in your pocket.

I did tell the owner of Margherita's we'd never be there again.

I have no idea who the manager of Canal Street is. Heck, I couldn't even get the waiter to take my money for half an hour. In the future I'll make sure I eat before I go to Canal Street Pub and keep some soda in the car, if I go back at all.
