"Ugly Betty" actress America Ferrara and Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez appeared at th eIBEW union hall in Sinking Spring to stump for Hillary and motivate about 50 attendees to go out and canvass voters for the New York Senator. The event began considerably late as Congresswoman Velazquez began speaking about 2 pm (the event was scheduled for 1 pm) and America Ferrera arrived fifteen minutes later.
The IBEW provided coffee and cookies and staffers for Clinton, who have been in the area for several days, spoke to the audience about voter registration techniques. They asked each person to introduce themselves and say a few words about why they are supporting Hillary. One woman got a warm reception when she completed her own voter registration form to switch from Republican to Democrat.
Former Reading Mayor Joe Eppihimer regaled the staffers in the hall for most of the afternoon with tales about Reading and former City Councilwoman Donna Reed also was in attendance for the event. Asked when the Clinton campaign will open an office in Reading the staffers replied "when they have a signed lease."
Here are pictures from the event.
