The Adams County Democrats have elected Roger Lund of New Oxford their new Chair. Congratulations go out to Roger. He's a friend and a fellow "original" Deaniac. He's also the second openly gay County Chair along with Beth Shupp-George of Franklin County. Here's the press release:
GETTYSBURG, Pa.—A New Oxford resident and business owner was elected
chair of Pennsylvania's Adams County Democratic Committee (ACDC)
Monday night. Roger Lund defeated former party chair John Rarig of
Orrtanna. Lund takes over from Mike Pavlovich of Biglerville, who
resigned for health reasons.
"This is an exciting time for Democrats in Adams County," Lund
said. "We have excellent candidates to offer to the county in the
next election. I believe Adams voters will elect both of ou! r county
commissioner candidates in 2007, because experience matters to
voters. So does fiscal responsibility."
The Democratic commission candidates are Lisa Moreno and Marty
Qually.
Lund has been active in Adams County politics since his appointment
to the Adams County Democratic Committee in 2003. In 2006, he was
elected to the executive board of ACDC.
In addition, Lund managed the 19th District congressional campaign
of Phil Avillo of York. Most recently, he has chaired the ACDC
political action committee and he was vice-chair of the Gettysburg
Area Democracy for America. As owner of the Christmas Haus in New
Oxford, Lund has served on the board of the New Oxford Chamber of
Commerce.
"My participation in this process, indeed my election to this
office, is a direct result of the call to action from Democratic
National Committee chair Howard Dean," said Lund. " When I founded
the Dean for America chapter in Gettysburg in 2003, my life and
level of commitment changed. I thank Governor Dean for that."
"As we see Adams County grow and change, it is important that we
reflect those changes in our policies and services," he said. "The
Adams County Democratic Committee is moving toward meeting those
challenges head-on. It is an honor to be elected to lead us forward."
I find it interesting that he becomes Chair of the ACDC. Beside I also think it is interesting that he was a part of the ACDC political action committee and didn't run out and start his own. He actually supported one that is part of their county committee. WOW what a concept. Not like Berks County!

We're in the same congressional district and have had some political dealings over the last 2 years. He's hardworking and organized, and I'm delighted.

Not every County Chair uses that posiiton to raise funds for their personal PAC as Tom Herman has.
