133. That's the number of Philadelphians killed so far this year. 2007 is on a path to be another bloody year after 406 were killed last year. A new organization called StopGunDeaths.org is trying to stop the carnage of human life on our streets. Things have gotten so unreasonable the NRA is even protecting the right of terrorists to purchase guns in the U.S. Usama doesn't even need to send his operatives here with weapons to attack us. They can purchase as many guns as they need with a simple ID, even if they're on the terrorist watch list.
At this point, 133 would sound good. Actually, as of yesterday (day 155), the number of homicides in the City of Brotherly Love was 169.
We may not be on top with any of our sports teams, but we're way out in front with death.

It's a tragic statistic. Sorry I'm a bit behind the curve, the number increases so quickly it's difficult to keep up. Thanks for the update.

Sure the numbers bad; but let's not get on an anti-gun rant that forgets the true problems with gun control. The fact is that the criminals who committ gun crimes rarely abide by any of the gun-laws and some of the most widely known gun crimes have occurred in gun-free zones. The solution to gun violence lies not in banning guns, but by cracking down on illegal gun markets and use and by having guns in the hands of law-abiding, intelligent citizens.
