Have you seen "Sicko" yet? Are you wondering what you can do to help get universal healthcare for all Pennsylvanians? The Governor goes around Pennsylvania claiming there are 800,000 uninsured but his statistics are fatally flawed, surveying as many residents of Tioga and Potter counties as Allegheny and Philadelphia. Census figures show it's more like 1,200,000 or more. How are we going to actually cover all Pennsylvanians and insure they are adequately provided for and not underinsured or uninsured? House Bill 1660 and Senate Bill 300 both would provide complete, comprehensive medical care, including mental illness and prescriptions, with no copayments and deductibles.
You can help by asking your candidates for state House and Senate if they support these bills. Healthcare4AllPA has a list of those they know support this cause on their website. If your candidate or Representative or Senator is not on this list ask them if they will cosponsor this legislation. If not let them know they will not have your vote. I'm happy to say my Senator Mike O'Pake was one of the first to sign on as a cosponsor. My Representative has not. Coincidentally, I didn't sign his petition either.
